Chalcots, London: Indenture of lease of Chalcots and Wilds estates

Indenture of lease, upon surrender of a lease to William Watkins, gentleman, by the Provost and College to Sir Thomas Allen, of Finchley, co. Middlesex, knight, of all their lordship or lordships, lands, tenements, meadows, pastures, feedings, woods, underwoods, timber, threes, hedgerows, groves, bushes and all other hereditaments called Chalcott and Wild alias Chalcotts and Wilds, with all their appurtenances in the parishes of Hampstead, Kentish Town, Marylebone, Hendon and Finchley, co. Middlesex. From Michaelmas last for 20 years. Rent £24 8s 10d and 14 quarters 2 bushels of wheat and 30 quarters of malt. 12 cartloads of wood to be delivered yearly in London or the suburbs where the lessors shall direct. The lessors will yearly allow the lessee 52s off his rent for such woods and lands as were belonging to Chalcotts and Wilds and are now inclosed in Marybone Parke viz. 10 acres of land valued at 4s an acre and 6 acres of wood valued at 2s an acre.
