Draft of Betham's reply to the letter from John Derby (ECR 17 080).
"As the College at your particular request presented you to the living, they looked upon themselves as intitled to your best service upon this occasion. They cannot therefore help being a little surpriz'd at ye contents of your last letter, as the pleasure you must have in making this small acknowledgment to your Patrons must have been more than amends for whatever trouble you have had."
