Letter to the Provost and Fellows, from John Copping, clerk to Commissioners appointed 23 August 1683 to see to the due execution of a statute 43 Elizabeth to redress the misemployment of lands goods and money given to Charitable Uses, notifying them that the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of Newington near Sittingbourne have complained that they withhold a certain rent of 32 bushels of oysters, the bread of half a seam of wheat and two barrels of strong beer due to the poor yearly, and desiring their presence at the archbishop’s palace at Canterbury on 3 January next to answer the complaint.
