Indenture of lease by the Provost and College to Edward Tomeson, of Cheatsham [Chattisham], yeoman, of a piece of arable land called Pepper Whytes and Pepper Whytes croft, containing 5 acres lying between the way called Wood Streete on the north and the lord's wood of Hyntlesam [Hintlesham] called Swarthes Hey on the south, and a piece of arable land containing 12 acres lying between the same way on the north and the land of the lord of Hintlesam on the south, one headland abutting on the land called Cobdock croft and the other head on the abovesaid land called Pepper Whytes, also an orchard with a piece of pasture adjoining called Devys garden containing an acre of ground lying between a piece of ground called the Mylkinge Pytle on the north and the common way on the south, of which one end abuts on the field called Nether Close towards the east and upon a messuage sometime Robert Amysses called Lanches on the west, also a piece of land containing 8 acres lying in a field called Nether Close between the ground of Robert Amys on both sides, one head abutting upon a lane leading from the church of Hintlesam unto a tenement called Diggettes towards the east, and a piece of ground called Mylking Pitle containing one acre lying between the land of the said Robert Amys on the north and Lanches on the south, of which on head abuts on Nether Close aforesaid towards the east and the other upon the land of the said Robert Amys on the west; with all appurtenances belonging thereto, together with the herbage or feeding of Pepper Whytes woods containing 5 acres (all woods and underwoods being reserved to the lessors); all the premises being in the parish of Hintlesam. From Michaelmas last for 21 years. Rent 17s 16d and 2 quarters of barley malt or their money value.
