Chattisham, Suffolk: Letter concerning value of the living
Item
19 January 1695
Letter from William Flacke to John Hanson, concerning the value of the living of Chattisham. He describes the parish as small, with the whole town valued at just over £300, with high taxes. He believes the value to be less that £24, with the last incumbent leaving large debts and repair costs. He fears the tenths will be sequestered to fund this. If the college will send his new leases to Mr Pupplett, he will ask Mr Ventruse to witness him sealing them. 19 January 1694. Signed "William Flacke". Postscript that there are 13-14 years' tenths due to the King, with fees for non-payment on top.
