Hintlesham, Suffolk: Extract from will of Richard Smart

Contemporary extract from the will of Richard Smart late of Ipswich, yeoman, dated 1 February 1608, in which he gives the college £36 if they grant a lease of their land in Hintlesham to Nicholas Tymperly, lord of the manor of Hintlesham, for 21 years at the current rent. He gives £140 in total to the church-wardens of Hintlesham, Cobdock, Washbrook, Chattisham, Burstall, Eton College, to Clement Manninges, to Thomas and John Carleton, to be paid by Nicholas Tymperley within two years after the death of his wife Ellen. Nicholas Tymperley and Martyn Nutman to be executors, and recipients of any remaining property.
