Title
Cottisford, Oxfordshire: Quitclaim of land
Level
Item
Date
[1230s]
Content description
Quitclaim by Ralph de Cotes to the church of St Mary of Bec and the monks there of all the land he had and held from the said monks in their vill of Coddesford [Cottisford]. He acknowledges that in a plea moved between Walter de Cotes and himself in the King's court he recognised the said land to be the villeinage of the said monks so that without them he could not bring the same to law. In order that his heirs might have no ground to cause trouble with regard to the premises he has resigned and renounced for ever all his right in the same to the monks, by the hands of brother Michael de Turnebu, their proctor, of Rislep [Ruislip].
