Content description
Counterpart of Indenture of agreement, between the Provost and College of one part and Richard Wawe and John Clyfford, of Wedon Beak [Weedon Bec], yeoman, of the other. By lease of 14 June 1559 the Provost and College had let the manor of Wedon Beake to Thomas Judkyn (lately deceased) and the said Richard and John. In the lease there was a clause by which the lessees were to pay 40 good wether sheep, sound fat shamble ware of Chiltern breed, to be delivered at the pasture of Eton called the playing lease between the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist and 20 August. Now it is agreed that the lessees shall pay, in lieu of the sheep, £16.
Witnesses: William Charman, Benjamyn Owtred, the scribe, John Lucas. Mark of Wawe and signature "Jhon Cleffard".
Two seals, round, red wax, on doubled tag.
