Level
Item
Date
13 February 1776
Content description
C.S. Oakden, attorney, Daventry, to the Rev. Dr Barnard, asking on behalf of Mr Thornton, patron of the living of Weedon Bec and owner of the grant tithes and some other lands there, and by several other proprietors of lands in the open fields, whether the College will join in opposing the intended application to Parliament for an inclosure. "it is presumed that the property there will not improve by an inclosure and that it will be certainly very detrimental to the poor. More than half the property of the College is already inclosed."
