Weedon Bec, Northamptonshire: Letter concerning tolls

C.S. Oakden, Daventry, to the Rev. Dr Roberts asking the College to support Mr Folwell, of Everdon, a customary tenant of Weedon Bec, in contesting the right of the toll gatherer in this [Daventry] market to exact a toll upon his sheep; with a copy by John Harris, bailiff, of an instrument issued under the College seal on 18 December 1769, directed to mayors, sheriffs, bailiffs, constables, toll-gatherers etc, asserting the freedom of the College tenants from such tolls under the privileges granted to the College by Henry VI.
