Everdon, Northamptonshire: Coroner's inquisition

Coroner's Inquisition taken at Great Everdon, upon the body of Richard Garrett. It was found that on 30 August while riding through the streets of Everdon he was thrown by his horse which was frightened by the clanging of certain iron instruments called mill bills or mill pecks which he held in his hands. Garrett was so shaken and hurt that he died at the second hour after noon on the next day.
The horse, valued at 50s, claimed by the Provost and College, the mill bills, valued at 12d, remaining in the keeping of Anne Garrett, the widow.
