Item
Date
5 December 1769
Content description
Neale Ward, Bury, 5 December 1769, to the Rev. Mr Cooke. Mr William Woodley’s “purchase of Mr Westley’s lease of your Wretham farm has turn’d out so unfavourably to him that he had laid aside all thoughts of ever renewing it as he assured me that he has never made 2 per cent of his money… but as country sports are Mr Woodley’s principal amusements and these light barren soils greatly incourage the breed of game, I have persuaded him to give up his interest to his pleasures and he wou’d be oblig’d to the gentleman to let him know the terms of their renewall.”
