East Wretham, Norfolk: Letter concerning abatement of fine
Item
6 January 1777
J. Young, Worcester, to the Rev. Mr Betham or in his absence the Provost. Mr Palmer is with him and they have discussed Mr Woodley's letters which contain no valid reason for the abatement of the fine. The Provost [Barnard] opened this letter and sent it on to Betham with some confirmatory observations. "I ventured yesterday to descend from my attic, but found the revocare gradus so difficult a task that I am almost afraid to repeat the experiment."
