Creeting, Suffolk: Indenture of lease

Indenture of lease, by the Provost and College to William Barton, of Cretinge Saincte Marye, yeoman, of two mills in Creating aforesaid, one being called "the haute mylle" and the other "the fullinge mylne" with certain meadows and hams adjoining, now in the holding of the said William. From Michaelmas 1556 for 20 years. Rent £9 13s 4d. By a bond of the same date the lessor has bound himself in 100 marks for the observance of the foregoing.
Seal, round, 15mm, red wax, on doubled tag. O C with foliage.
Endorsement that the meadows and hams and marshes are as follows:
one long meadow lying on the west side of the river containing 7 acres.
one meadow called the marsh wherein is a tynt containing 8 acres.
4 hams whereof 2 lie adjoining the hawlt mill, the other 2 adjoining the fulling mill, containing in all 3 acres.
Item the said William covenants to pay yearly to the parson of St Mary's his due tythes for the said mills and grounds after the rate of 8d for every noble of the rent.
