Property in Buckinghamshire: Indenture of undertaking

Indenture of undertaking by the Provost and College, in return for certain lands and tenements sold to them by George Blackwall, to pay to the said Blackwall yearly during his life £7 in half yearly instalments; and after his death there shall be kept yearly in the church of Eton an anniversary to wit "placebo and dirige solemplie by note over nyght and upon the morowe a masse of Requiem with an hersse sett in the myddes of the churche with foure tapers of waxe to be sett upon the said hersse and to burne continuallie duryng the said dirige and masse and the bellys solemplie to be ronge." to be kept on the anniversary of the day of burial of Blackwall, for the souls of Blackwall and Katherine, his wife, their friends' souls and all christian souls. From the date of these present the soul of Katherine shall be specially prayed for "in the beedys bydden every sondaie in the said churche and like wise shall be praied for in every sermon said to the people" and after George Blackwall too is dead, the souls of the said George and Katherine are to be specially prayed for in the said beedys and sermons as aforesaid.
