Content description
Indenture of agreement between Thomas de Webbele and Annora, his wife, of Roddesworthe, of one part and Thomas, son and heir of the said Annora, of the other, by which the former grant the latter all their lands and tenements in Roddesworth in the parish of Stanewell, except that that capital close there which is surrounded by great fishponds with a turning bridge (ponte vertibili) built to the same, and the building standing on the said close and the said great ponds and that small garden there on the south side of the close, are to remain fully to the grantors for the life of Annora. The grantors at their own expense will enclose the small garden. It shall not be lawful for them to cut down any tree without the assent of the grantee, but the latter may do so for the repair or construction of buildings. To hold in perpetuity to the grantee and his next heirs in blood. Rent 6 marks. The grantee to find the grantors sufficient wood and fuel except for brewing and baking. The grantee to keep the buildings in repair. The grantee has paid 40s to wit for the whole time from the date of the present to Michaelmas next, saving to the grantors however the crop of corn now sown and all goods and chattels to be taken at their will.

Two seals, pink wax, on doubled tags.

(2) Pointed oval, 21 x 14mm. ? A legend.
