Royal Patents: Indenture of assignment of manors of Compton, Preston and Welford

Indenture of assignment by John, bishop of Lincoln, according to the provisions of the Parliament of Bury St Edmunds in 1447, by which, upon th death or vacation of Hugh Magason, prior of the alien priory of Derhurst [Deerhurst], lands of the said priory (which then would revert to Eton College) to the value of 100 marks a year were to be bestowed, by the disposition of the then bishop of Lincoln, upon the College of the Blessed Mary and St Nicholas of Cambridge [King's College]. The said Hugh having now died, the bishop assigns and limits the lands aforesaid as follows, viz. the manors of Compton, Preston and Welneford [Welford], co. Gloucester.
