Royal Patents: Exemplification of act of Parliament concerning Eton

Exemplification of the enrolment of an act of the Parliament held at Westminster on the day of the Conversion of St Paul 20 Henry VI, viz of part of the section relating to Eton College.
In the charter of endowment of 25 March 1441 there recited, this exemplification omits all the endowments except those relating to the vicarage of Morton and the church of Alveley, co. Essex, the priories of Creeting, co. Suffolk, and Everdon, co. Northants, and the mill at Goring, co. Oxford.

The Great Seal, bronze wax, on doubled tag, much cracked, in linen skippet. Ornamental drawing at the top of the first membrane.

The document is endorsed to the effect that Thomas Thornton, esq., sheriff [of Northampton], "allowed Weedon Beck charter" on 20 April 1656. Another endorsement states that this charter was "brought from Weedon where it happen'd to be produced by a copyholder and was claimed by Steph: Sleech, Bursar, as belonging to ye College, Oct. 12. 1736".
