Royal Patents: Grant of the reversion of the manor of Grovebury

Grant in frankalmoign to the Provost and College of Eton of the reversion of the house, manor or lordship of Grovebury alias of Leghton Busard [Leighton Buzzard], co. Bedford, with all lands and tenements pertaining to the same in Stodeham [Studham], co. Bedford, [Nutford in Pimperne] and Blanford [Blandford], co. Dorset, Stukeley [Stewkley], Northalle [Northall], Edelesburgh [Edlesborough]and Rodemache [Radnage], co. Bucks, Compton St John, Portesmouth [Portsmouth] and Burhegge [Burridge], cos. Sussex and Hants, Rundale [Randall] and Bierlingismile [Birling], co. Kent, and the church of Tintagel, co. Cornwall, upon the death of Alice, wife of William, marquis of Suffolk, formerly the wife of John Philipp, Knight, deceased. The said Alice held the premises in feetail, the issue being extinct, by virtue of a grant from William Philip, Knight, Thomas Chaucers, esquire, Thomas Derham, John Throkmarton and John Wode to her and her late husband, John Philip; the reversion, by virtue of another grant, to go to William Mountford and William Peyto, Knights, John Verney, clerk, John Nanfan, John Bovyll and Thorras Huggeford, esquires, and Robert Stanschawe. The latter on 25 March 1445 assigned the said reversion to the crown. Given at Westminster by the King.
