Content description
Grant by Humphrey, duke of Gloucester, with the assent and licence of the King, of £26 13s 4d and £11 6s 8d yearly which formerly the prior of Farlegh used to pay from a yearly farm to the nuns of Mortiginato. From 3 February last for his life. These rents were included in the 2000 marks yearly which the King granted the duke by letters patent on 14 July 1439 for his life. On 25 March 1441 the King had granted inter alia the reversion of the said rents to the Provost and College of Eton. And grant to the same of all rents and services he has in the alien lordship or priory of Clatford, lately pertaining to his castle or lordship of Merleburgh [Marlborough], co. Wilts, and in the alien lordship or priory of St Helen’s in the Isle of Wight, co. Hants, lately pertaining to his lordship of the Isle of Wight. And surrender of all his estate, interest and possession in the said rents, services and priories. And quitclaim of all his right in all the premises.
