Licence for William, marquess of Suffolk, and Alice, his wife, to grant in frankalmoign to the Provost and College of Eton the house, manor or lordship of Grovebury alias Leghton Busard [Leighton Buzzard], co. Bedford, and the church of Tyntagell [Tintagel], co. Cornwall, and a messuage, 3 tofts, 60 acres of arable, 6 acres of meadows, 40 acres of pasture and 20s rent in Stodeham [Studham], [co. Beds.], 19 messuages, 7 tofts, 140 acres of arable,14 acres of meadow, 140 acres of pasture, 100 acres of wood and 401 rent in [Nutford in Pimperne] and Blanford [Blandford], co. Dorset, 70 messuages, 12 tofts, 500 acres of arable, 100 acres of meadow, 300 acres of pasture, 100 acres of wood and 100s rent in Stukeley, Northalle, Edelesburgh [Edlesborough] and Rodenache [Radnage], co. Bucks,20 messuages, 8 tofts, 300 acres of arable, 60 acres of meadow, 200 acres of pasture, 40 acres of wood and 20s rent in Compton St John, co.Sussex, 10 messuages, 9 tofts, 200 acres of arable, 20 acres of meadow, 100 acres of pasture, 10 acres of wood and 20s rent in Portesmouth [Portsmouth]and Burghegge [Burridge], co. Hants, which they hold for the life of the said Alice with reversion to the grantees. Previous grants referred to as in ECR 39/43. The grantees to pay a yearly rent for the life of Alice in the pariah church of Ewelme, co. Oxford, of £220. If the rent is in arrears the grantors may distrain upon the premises and upon the manors of Langley Marreys [Langley Marish] and Bledlowe [Bledlow], co. Bucks. Given at Westminster.
