Will of John Munkeden, of Cocham in the diocese of Salisbury, leaving his body to be buried in the parish church of Cocham before (coram) the altar of St Katherine; to the church of Salisbury 6d; to the light of the Holy Cross of the said church of Cocham 12d; to every light of the same church 6d; to the high altar 20d; to the chapel of Maydynheth 20d; the residue to Margaret his wife, Dominus William Morys and William Alen, groom (valectus) of our lord the King, whom he constitutes his executors. Item, he wills that Margaret his wife have all the lands of Wodmancotes for the term of her life, and that after her death they be sold and distributed for the salvation of the testator's soul according to the discretion of the said executors.
On the dorse probate, 12 June 1477, before the official of the archdeacon of Buckingham.
Seal, pointed oval, 43 x 27mm, red wax, applied. The Virgin (?) seated, crowned, with a sceptre in left hand, to the right a smaller robed figure, within a Gothic framework; above in a niche God the Father (?); below beneath a rounded arch a kneeling cleric.
