Stephen Hawtrey, Brick Court, to the Rev Mr Cooke, Fellow, enclosing a copy of a letter from Edward Dickinson, Carey street, 30 November 1761, complaining of the setting of his fine for renewal at £290. Endorsed with Cooke's answer to the effect that "the estate, after all deductions and payments whatever, brings in nearly, if not an intire near income of £200, and this they "(the College)" apprehend it such an advantage as is very cheaply bought for 7 years at a year and a half's purchase".
