Bledlow, Buckinghamshire: Letter concerning woods
Item
12 December 1823
2 folios
Jos. Jas. Harper, High Wycombe, to the Rev George Bethell, bursar, with his account. He thinks he has conquered the evil of turning donkeys into the woods by having pounded several in his own yard and made the owners pay a trifle. It is obvious from their neglect of the woods that the lessees intend the lease to run out. No acorns have been sown at any time during the lease. Annotated by Bethell that the former bailiff died in May 1822.
