Bledlow, Buckinghamshire: Letter concerning road
Item
10 April 1828
2 folios
J J Harper, to Rev George Bethel, delivered by hand. He had ridden over to Iver that morning, hoping to have conversation but not having the pleasure to fine him at home. "The surveyors of the parish have now moved the stocks and have also dug up and carried away a quantity of the waste land, that is, the surface, to the depth of six inches, much beyond the limits of the width of the road as chalked out by the commissioners ... Mr Tindal ... seems not disposed to take such steps as I think calculated to put an end to such proceedings ... I had a great deal to say which I cannot commit properly to paper..."
