Bledlow, Buckinghamshire: Letter concerning Bledlow woods
Item
25 August 1828
2 folios
J J Harper, Bledlow Ridge, to Rev George Bethel. He has told Mr Dashwood of the intended alteration respecting the Bledlow woods and that the College wishes to offer him the deputation. He said he had as much as he could manage. "He consider'd it a very eligible situation for the preservation of game and thought that the preserving of game (except rabbits) greatly tended to preserve the woods as the person who look'd after the one was always present to protect the other." Harper recommends the appointment of a game keeper for the first year.
