William Day, to his wife. He has had "a greate advantage of mine adversaries".
"This day is a day of great rejoicinge in London - bonfires, bells ringing and gonns shooting while I wright his. The cause, therof is because the secluded members were put into ye Parliament House this day by General Monck, who being ye greater parte now of the House have voted a free Parliament to be chosed against the 20th of April .... There is a greate cheerefulnesse in ye faces of most men, in hope once more of happy daies".
