Notice, (noted by the Provost as having been served on 17 September 1835 in the College Library in the presence of the Vice-Provost and three other Fellows) directed to the Provost and College by the London and Birmingham Railway Company, informing them that by virtue of the Act of 3 William IV entitled "An Act for making a railway from London to Birmingham", they intend to contract for the purchase of 1 acre 34 perches of land being the southern part of a close of meadow in the parish of St John Hampstead (with reference to a map); and if the College fails to treat with them, they will, by virtue of the powers of the Act, issue a warrant commanding the Sheriff to summon a jury to give a verdict for the sum of the purchase money. Signed by one of the directors of the company.
