Item
18 April 1842
2 large folios
William Tooke, to Rev George Bethell. Has had much correspondence and many conferences with Mr Shaw and the surveyor and solicitors of the Commissioners and the question now is simply what abatement should be made in respect for the renewal. At the end of a long letter, he says "On a review of this entire transaction in all its bearings, I can come altho' very reluctantly to no other conclusion than that of the expediency of submitting to the abatement at the rate of £5 10s per acre or rather to the sacrifice of the difference of £1162 15s 0d". The Primrose Hill estate was valued at £16275 that at Eton £15112 5s 0d.
