Indenture of lease by brother Richard de Beausevall, prior of Okebourn, attorney general in England of the abbey of Bec Herlewyn, to Edmund de Lesyngham with all its appurtenances, except tallages, heriots, fines and amercements from the tenants of the manor and the woods. From this date for 7 years. Rent 350 marks to be paid over the period to the said attorney general, to wit, each year at the Purification £11 6s 8d at Easter £11 and at the Nativity of St John £11. With warranty.
The tenants are to collect the said tallages etc and render a faithful account of the same, at their own expense. They are to maintain the buildings, walls and ditches, and are to take nothing from the wood without livery of the attorney general or his steward. They are not to demise the manor or any part thereof. They are to marl with white marl at their own expense 28 acres of the demesne, to wit, 4 acres each year. At the end of the term they are to restore the premises as they have found them, including the hay and corn of the last year (as they have now received that of last year) and the stock alive and dead. This last undertakikng is specified in an annexed indenture (not surviving).
If the rent is in arrears or the indenture otherwise not observed, the lessors may enter and distrain.
Edmund or Roger shall receive yearly a robe of suit of the squires of the said brother Richard.
