Indenture of lease, by William Daye, Provost, and the College, upon surrender of his former lease of 1 June 1582, to Arthur Swayne, of Amporte, co. Hants, gentleman, of a piece or plot of ground within the parish of St Martin at the Vintrie within the city of London, containing 12 feet in breadth and 4 feet in length, with all buildings thereon, late in the tenure of Robert Swayne, citizen and cooper of London. For 40 years. Rent 5s. The lessee to keep the premises in repair, together with the pavements as well within as without in the street before the messuage or tenement, and the kennels to be cleaned as often as necessary. If the buildings or any part of them by casual means are destroyed by fire and the lessee does not rebuild the same within two years, the lessors may rebuild them at their own costs and may then occupy the same without vexation of the lessee.
