Content description
Petition from the copyholders of the manor of Weedon, co. Northants, to Edward, Lord Coke, Lord Chief Justice. "Robert Wawe, gentleman, beinge tenant to the Colledge of Eaton of the demeasnes of the manor of Weedon, Wolde inclose the same and compell us copiholders of the saide manor to joyne in the saide inclosure, and do the plowe upp ancient grasse grounds hedginge and ditchine the same utterlie spoilinge our comon onlye by suche vexacion to constrayne us to consent". Petition that Coke "wolde be pleased to referr the heareinge of theis busines unto Sir John Needham and Mr Dryden that Mr Wawe maye be staide from ploweinge any more of our comons and alsoe to forbeare from soinge of any corne in suche part of our anncient comon as he hathe alreadie plowed upp."
Noted, 28 February 1615 -6, that the matter is to be referred to Needham and Dryden, "to take some good order herein and to end it if they can, if not, to certifie".
