Indenture of lease, by the Provost and College, to Geoffrey Danyell of their manors of Creting, and Blakenham-on-the-Water, co. Suffolk, with all their appurtenances, except the advowsons of the churches and woods and underwoods and perquisites of courts, fines, heriots, reliefs, waifs and strays and all other escheats and forefeitures. From Michaelmas 1535 for 21 years. Rent £38 2s. The lessee to maintain the buildings, ponds, hedges, ditches,etc., but to have timber for the same from the manors by assignation of the lessors. The lessee to pay all rents and services due upon the premises to the King or any other lords, and the expenses of the College steward coming to hold courts there twice a year. The lessee to collect all the perquisites of courts and make an account of them to the College. If the rent is in arrears, in whole or in part, by three months, the lessors may re-enter the premises and expel the lessee.
The lessee and Hugh Danyell, of Asheton, George Danyell, of the same and Richard Fitzwater, gentleman, and Robert Stokes, of Eton, co. Bucks, and John Veir, of Blakenham, yeoman, have bound themselves, by a bond of this date, in £100 for the observance of this indenture.
