Content description
E Clarke, Sadlers Hall, to the Rev Mr Tew, concerning the value of Chalcotts and Wilds according to a survey that has been made by Mr Marsh on behalf of Mr Earle, showing a net rent of £1038. Mr Driver had estimated £1649 18s (which had included certain lands part of Mr Earle's freehold). Both the farms are on lease at considerably less than Driver's estimate, so that, admitting that they may bear an improvement, Mr Earle cannon benefit therefrom till after the expiration of the leases in more than eight years. Anyhow "such is the pecuniary situation of this country that it is far more likely it will be difficult to get tenants at the present rents."
