Tripartite indenture, between Abraham Darby, of Ebbw Vale Park, co Monmouth, esquire, Frederick Charsley, of Iver, co. Bucks, gentleman, and the College of Eton, by which Darby, for £305 conveys to the College a parcel of ground in the hamlet of Hedgerley Dean in Farnham Royal, formerly divided into 4 pightles called To-away Spring containing 4 acres, but by a subsequent admeasurement 5 acres 2 roods 22 perches, adjoining a wood now or formerly belonging to the College called Little Crooksfield on the north and west, another wood now or formerly called Downs on the east and the public road from Burnham to Fulmer on the south, which parcel is now better known, as surveyed in 1858, as of 5 acres 2 roods 15 perches and as shown in a coloured draying on this conveyance. Darby had put the premises up for sale by public auction by Messrs Driver on 8 August 1871, on which occasion Charsley bough the same for £305 on which he paid a deposit of £61.
