Lyminster, Sussex: Letter concerning tythes
Item
12 January 1317
The Dean of Arundel to the Dean of the Blessed Mary of Arches. Recites a document dated 11 December 1316 similar to the foregoing (ECR 56 060) up to the order, which then declares that William de Fischeborn, rector of the chapel of Codelawe, has continued in the spoliation of the tythes aforesaid, and makes an order similar to the foregoing in respect of him. The Dean of Arundel, who received the said document on 29 December, states that he has been unable to proceed against John Clenche and John de Vyenna because Clenche is not to be found within the bishopric nor is know to have a certain domicile in the same, and John de Vienna has died intestate without the appointment of executors. But he personally warned William de Fischeborn in the chapel of Codelawe on 22 December to satisfy the nuns in respect of the tythes despoiled, and as Fischeborn paid no attention to the warnings he peremptorily cited him to appear before the Official or one of his Commissioners.
