Lyminster, Sussex: Letter concerning the death of the prioress

Agnes, abbess of the monastery of the Blessed Mary of Almeneschiis, and the whole convent of the same, to sir Thomas Mercenarii, priest, of the diocese of Seez. The priory of Lemmonistro vacant by the death of sister Gervasia, late prioress, has been given to sister Johanna de Insula. Direction to sir Thomas to receive the oath (recited) from the new prioress.
Two seals, pointed oval, brown wax, on tongues.
(1) The Abbey, 50 (originally about 44) x 40mm. The Virgin enthroned, with the Child on her left knee, in her right had a lily.
A star above a crescent to the Virgin's right side.
(2) The Abess. 46 x 30mm. The Abbess standing, a staff in her right hand and a book in her left hand. On each side of her body, a shield bearing a leopard; on each side of her head a fleur de lys. Above, the Virgin and Child.
