Public instrument testifying that on 14 March 1345 -6 in the presence of the underwritten Robert, notary public, and a multitude of others, before master Robert de Wygornia, official of the venerable father Robert, Bishop of Chichester, in the chapel of St Faith next the cathedral of Chichester, sitting in the place of the Consistory for a tribunal, in a cause of tythes at issue between the Abbess and Convent of Almenaches being in possession of the parish church of Climpingg, plaintiffs, of one part, and Sir Ralph de Bernham, rector of the church or chapel of Codelawe, defendant, of the other, on the right of receiving the tythes issuing from certain lands called Cobeham, Westrete, Estgarston, Horscroft and Westgarston, which the nuns assert to be within the bounds of the parish of Climpingg and Ralph asserts to be within those of the parish of Codelawe; Sir Robert de Lenemenstr', rector of the church of Perham, in the diocese of Chichester, and master William de Ferringg, clerk, being proctor of Sir Ralph; master Robert pronounced judgment in favour of the nuns and Sir Ralph is to pay the expenses of the action.
