Particulars of Okeley and Clapham taken from the mouth of Mr Smith, the surveyor, by the bursar (William Cooke). The Duke's principal tenant, living in the parsonage is one field. "Smith could obtain no information fromany of the Duke's tenants. All he could learn was from one of the Hiltons, an old man of above 70. Field, in particular, to whom he several times applied, would enter into no communications with him; nor could he get a sight of any of the parish rates or assessments". Old Hilton not a tenant of the Duke.
None
