Content description
Eton College.
Revd. Stephen Weston to [?Mr Pettingall]: the Provost is away and his propositions cannot yet be considered, but he thinks it unlikely that [Pettingall] will be allowed to hold Newport, Whitson and Christchurch by the College. Even if the College agreed, the Bishop's dispensation would be needed. The College would not wish to separate Whitson from Christchurch. Asks him to tell Mr Lord in reply to ECR 64 427 that the College ought not to give way to the Chapter of Llandaff, however worthy Mr Barber.
