Content description
Letter to his grandfather. Glad Bath waters agree with him. 'Our agreeable and much regretted companion' Jack died after a short illness. Dr Foster is Fellow in place of Dr Apthorpe; Mr Bogherst (Boggust) promoted from Lower to Upper School. One of Dr Langford's sons will take his place in Lower School; must stay a year to qualify as a master as he left only two years ago. River at its highest since 1774 when Eton was flooded. Now 420 boys in the school and so many coming before Easter that nobody knows where they are to lodge.
