Sir John Masterman to Lionel Smith
Item
23 April 1933
1 item
Has agreed to let the Fellows consider his name in certain circumstances. Has done this on the assumption that Smith is a candidate. He has made it clear he does not want the job but it is difficult to resist pressure of the kind used. Will be one of the happiest moments of his life if he hears Smith is to be Head Master. Worlds of Oxford and games would rejoice and he would be welcome among the younger men at Eton (whom he knows). Edinburgh is too remote.
