Content description
Would like to see a copy of the verses for which he has been sent up for good a second time. 'Your mother thinks cricket a very dangerous game but it certainly is a fine manly amusement ... the same of rowing and swimming'. Hopes to ride with him in the holidays and is on the lookout for a horse for him. Most of the hay is safe. The Etonians are a little presumptious in challenging the Marylebone Club but he hopes they have done it humbly.
His mother adds : concern for his eye. 'Long botheration' with Eliza about the housekeeping. Wishes he had been home to help her make extracts from Curtis's Botanical History.
