Eton-Harrow cricket match at Lord's. Has kept secret the intention of playing at Lord's somehow but heard from the committee of the Marylebone Club that they would not give leave for a match without the consent of the two Headmasters. Nor would it be advisable; when Edwards came to Harrow last year to make arrangements for the Winchester match, Dr Vaughan did not approve and if they play without mentioning it to him he will make no endeavours to continue the match next year. The difficulty is that the Collegers are obliged by statute to remain at Eton after the Oppidans; could Harrow not play the day boarders, which would make the match equal, or play a day match with no need to stay in London. Would not feel at liberty to propose this if playing himself but feels he can do so to show how anxious everyone is for the match to continue next year and thereafter so they may play 'our old opponents and old school fellows at Lord's'
