Papers of Edith Murray Keate, d.1945

Daughter of Robert William Keate, son of Robert Keate the surgeon and nephew of John Keate, Head Master, she was the last member of the family to bear the Keate name. She was an author, writing among other books a biography of Nelson's wife and, in 1937, a guide to Hampton Court Palace. Margaretta Brown's diaries had descended to her and she allowed extracts to be published in Etoniana. She received the MBE in 1932 in recognition of her services as Assistant in the Historical section of the Naval Branch, Committee of Imperial Defence.
