Edward Herbert: Letter to his mother
Item
22 May 1851
Writes that after attending school with a very bad headache found it impossible to go again. So got leave to stay out and went to bed and the doctor visited him. He is not allowed to attend school the next day. He believes he may have measles as two in the house are recovering from it. Herbert's cousin is also unwell, Aubenon. (Auberon Edward William Molyneux Herbert 1850.3-1855.2) Aubenon has the reputation of a 'sap' and boys have asked Herbert whether he is as mad as Aubenon. He thinks that maybe he is as he has been a little way up town, but never to Windsor and never to cricket, he just spends his time working in his room.
