Addressed to "Dr Brown, Royal Physician, Berlin". His poor health - climate of Constantinople has disagreed with him. Has travelled with best artists and sculptors, and drawings and casts of Greek monuments sent home. Activities of himself and his companions including Mr Carlyle, Professor of Arabic, and Mr Hunt his chaplain, in gaining access to manuscripts, and mentions Mr Hamilton, a former acquaintance of Brown's. Asks him not to make his plans known. Mentions commission to Dr Brown to purchase books but cannot answer all his questions. Gives instructions for Mr Garlike for the binding of the books. Asks for snuff boxes from Mr Richards. Written from Mycone.
