Dr Keate: Letter from the Duke of Newcastle
Item
15 March 1833
Discusses proposed medal for second candidates to the Newcastle Scholarship. Wishes to support school for his own memories of it, the illustrious men who have attended, and the benefit his own sons received from being at Eton. "What may not Eton do in an improved state by bending the youthful mind to right studies, regulating the conduct, fortifying the mind and directing the energies towards the assertion and maintenance in manhood of every thing virtuous, noble and patriotic".
