Fanny Keate: Letter from Dr Brown to Mrs Brown
Item
24 February 1812
From Margaretta Farm.
Tells her that Dr Malkin has written about the infamous reports with regard to Morpheus and says he would be very sorry that Dr Keate might know of the vexation it has caused him circulating malicious and groundless falsehood, and that he had unknowingly caused a worthless man a serious injury, but he has endeavoured to repair the damage by informing as many people as possible that the report was false. Storms have been tempestuous, but 'Farmers cannot command the weather and must have patience'. The brewing has become a great success and it is saving 20% and the bread baking is going well too. Hoseason will take the coach from Lynn to London and take this letter with him, possibly not able to actually deliver it to Eton.
On outside: Fm clenchwarton 25 Feb 1812
Addressed to Mrs Brown at the Rev.d Dr Keate's Eton College, near Windsor.
