Fanny Keate: Letter from Dr Brown to Mrs Brown
Item
7 March 1812
From Margaretta Farm. Sorry she is not very well but 'Eton cannot be very healthy with the constant overflowing of the Thames' He would be very sorry were she not able to dine with the Provost and his Lady. Some people are losing lambs due to stagnant water and having the wrong variety for where they farm. Sweet messages to little Mary that there is little charm of her pigeons being tamed. Asks exactly when Eton breaks up so he can make plans. Hopes to visit when he goes to Shanstones. Increasingly difficult to get letters to and from the continent and thinks it will soon become impossible. Vexed that the letters from Pauline Neale have been lost as they would have given news from Berlin. Staff all merry. Keeping a cask of ale for Dr Keate and Fanny for their visit in August, counting the days until their visit.
